BAC COVID-19 Outdoor Safety Plans - BTB 2021
by posted 04/15/2021

BTB Families,

As we are getting the 2021 BTB Season going with practices, there are some COVID-19 Safety Plans we need to all remember and abide by.

BAC has an COVID Plan for Outdoors that BTB needs to follow.  All coaches have been made aware of this plan and have taken the necessary actions that they need to make for their team.

When you registered your player for the season, you signed the COVID waiver in order to play.  Failure to follow the procedures in the BAC Safety Procedures will result in player/family suspension from any team activities.  Here are a few of them to highlight:

  • Only the player will be allowed on or near the playing field for practices - parents are to stay in car
  • All players and coaches will be masked upon arrival during practice or competition and departure
  • Every practice will have a monitor to oversee the practice, this monitor will watch from their vehicle or maintain a 30 foot distance from the field, players and coaches.  They will not count against the 25 participation.  This monitor will communicate after each event and provide feedback to the BAC Board
  • All players and coach will remain 6 feet apart whenever possible, this includes team meetings.  Before and After game 'talks' should maintain the 6ft rule.  Covid Monitor will enforce this
  • Coach will be responsible for all practice gear and should maintain possession and sanitze between events
  • There is to be no sharing of equipment, including Helmets, Bats, Gloves.
  • Spectators should not arrive more than 10 min before a scheduled game and must leave immediately following the game.  All spectators will remain 6ft apart while in attendance.

Please make sure to read all of the guidelines in the safety plan that are attached (you can also find this on the BAC website under documents - COVID plans).  Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to a BTB Board Member.

Our goal is to keep everyone healthy, safe, and playing baseball this season!

As always, please stay home if your child is feeling ill (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle pain, headache, loss of taste or smell).

Thank you,

BTB Board

Games Have Been Loaded
by posted 04/08/2021

Hi Everyone,

Our league game schedule has been loaded to this website calendar.  I have also loaded place markers for the four known tournaments.  A couple of things to note:

  • MBL rules for 13's states that, "Completed games are FINAL after 7 innings. There is a 2 hour 30 minute time limit on fields without lights."  Because of this, I put each game on the calendar at 2.5 hours.  Obviously, not all games will go that long.
  • Please note that we have a Sunday game this year (May 2nd).
  • Also please note that our last league game is July 6th, so keep that in mind as you plan your 4th of July weekend.

If you are interested in reading the 13 year old specific rules, you can find them here:  https://www.mbl.bz/pages/rules-13-mbl

A couple of notable callouts:

  • The following base lengths shall apply:  13 year olds - 75-80 feet   (recommended distance is 80 feet)

  • The following pitching distances shall apply:  13 year olds - 52-54 feet (recommended distance is 54 feet)

  • Shoes:  13 year olds will be allowed to use metal spikes.

  • Bats – The following pertains to the legality of bats in the MBL

    • 13 year olds – Maximum diameter at the thickest part: 2 ¼” or less with unlimited weight differential and the new USA Baseball stamp on the taper.

    • 13 year olds – Maximum diameter at the thickest part: 2 5/8” or less with minus 11 weight differential and the new USA Baseball stamp on the taper.

    • Wood Bats are Allowed In length 36” or less

    • 13 year olds    A pitcher may pitch a maximum of 65 Pitches per game and a maximum of 90 Pitches per week.

    • Definition - A week consists of Sunday through Saturday.

Hello 13AA Black Parents!

It's my pleasure to get to coach this team again and I apologize for missing the team kickoff meeting last week. Thank you Terry, John and Alesia for taking care of all the details in my absence.

I am fortunate to have coached all the players in the past except for two new players.  For the two new players and parents, my philosophy and approach to coaching is pretty simple:

  1. I love kids....so much that I have 6 of my own. I am more concerned about helping these boys become good young men who care about their teammates, work hard, and never give up.
  2. I care about fundamentals and we will work on them a lot.  I was fortunate enough to play high school and college baseball and had some really good coaching along the way.
  3. I have 3 simple team rules that we will talk about each day: 1) respect 2) hustle and 3) encouragement.  These are all things we can control each day unlike bad calls or bad hops. Teammates picking on each other will not be tolerated.

I would like to hold our first practice on Thursday at Highland View Park from 6pm-7:30pm.  From 6-6:15pm I would like to meet all the parents, introduce myself, and answer any questions you may have.

I am just wrapping up our 16-game league schedule with our first game planned for Tuesday, April 27.  All games will be uploaded in the next few days.  Furthermore, we will practice ~3 times per week over the next couple weeks leading up to the first game; our practice scheduled will be uploaded later this week (hopefully the city fields will be open next week!).

Thank you,
