Thunder JO Volleyball is a community based program (started in 1998) that is run by the Burnsville Athletic Club (BAC). Even though the club is community based, we have an open policy with regard to letting players from other communities participate. We want our teams to be as competitive as possible, with the very best players available.
Cost – The price ranges from $1200-$1800 depending on the age level of the team. This includes uniforms, warm ups, gym spaces, tournament entry fees, and other regional fees. This does NOT include hotels or travel expenses.
Practices – We have 2-3 hour practices twice per week beginning in November and continuing throughout the season. Practices are held in ISD 191 schools.
Tournaments – Each team attends approximately 10 tournaments throughout the season starting in January and concluding at the end of April/beginning of May. Typical tournaments may include: Rochester Frostbite Festival, Odd Cup, Med City Cup; NCR Presidents’ Day & Area Championships; older teams attend Wisconsin Diggin’ in the Dells; along with several other local tournaments.
Tryouts for 2019-2020 Season –
U12, U13, & U14s Tryouts: Monday, October 7th from 6:00-9:00pm at Burnsville Senior High School
U15, U16, & U17 Tryouts: Sunday, November 10th from 9:00-11:45am at Nicollet Middle School
Supplemental Tryouts: Monday, November 11th from 6:00-9:30pm at Burnsville Senior High School
This year we will also offer an abbreviated season for our U12 & U13 teams in addition to the full season option. This will allow a decreased cost & time commitment option to those players & families who have not been exposed to volleyball yet but still have an interest in playing.
Coaches – We have two coaches at every age level. Our coaches have many years of experience between coaching and playing. The club sends our coaches to Midwest Volleyball Instructors coaching clinic every year. Additionally we have been part of the Postitive Coaching Alliance for 12 years and do not compromise when it comes to sportsmanship for coaches, players and parents.
